Last Tuesday night was the international food gathering at Swansea University. It was an event ran by the French, German, Hispanic and Polish societies. The aim of the event was to strengthen relations between the societies and to allow for the opportunity of cultural exchange, whilst also raising money for future events. In Lecture Room C of Fulton House, the chairs and desks had been pushed up against the wall and in the far side of the room were four groups of tables laden with food. Each table belonged to each participating society, the tables were adorned with flags and cultural items that pertained to each nationality that the societies represented.

The food which consisted of traditional dishes from the members’ countries, were brought in homemade. Hispanic Society Social Secretary James Turner welcomed everyone to the event and introduced each of the societies. Once each of them had described the food that they had brought, everyone got down to eating. There was music and dancing. To round off the night we all got together to take a group picture, each committee holding up their own flags. All in all the night was a huge success. We raised a lot of money due to the high attendance and lots of friendships were made.
