Swansea’s boxers unite for sponsored event

GOOD CAUSE FOR FIGHTING: Swansea University's Calum Spours in training, one of the many boxers to have benefited from the boxing club in the past.

SWANSEA University’s amateur boxing club will hold a box-a-thon event to help raise money for both the club and  charity.

The boxing club are aiming to hold the event during the first weekend of December.

The club will have buckets at the event to collect donations.

“The box-a-thon will involve seven members of the club punching a bag for 24 hours nonstop,” said club president William Yard.

“We are hoping to help raise money for the club as well as for the Macmillan Cancer Research charity.”

The Club currently holds four weekly training sessions which are designed to accommodate all levels of experience.

All students are welcome to come join and “get or keep fit” in a sport that is growing in popularity among both genders.
