Students of Swansea University gather outside Singleton Abbey in alliance against what Sarah Woodvine - current General Secretary to the Exec Officers and French Society President - called “savage cuts”, and leave with the answer of no to redundancies.

LUKE JAMES swept to victory to become the new Student Union President for the 2011/2012 academic year last Thursday night.

James won the first round of voting by 485 votes over Sarah ‘Woody’ Woodvine with James exclaiming that upon learning of his election he felt “quite frankly absolutely ridiculous.”

Despite hearing good news throughout the campaign from students, James was still not complacent in his win.

The exit polls were taken from 100 random students from across campus on Wednesday 23rd and Thursday 24th March 2011.

One in four students were asked to reveal who they voted for. The result in no way indicates the final outcome but aims to give an indication of who is likely to win.

ELECTIONS THIS year at Swansea University have seen a new form of voting come into place.

Candidates have tried to combat this change in voting by embracing new forms of media to get their manifestos and messages across.

ELECTIONS THIS year at Swansea University have seen a new form of voting come into place.

Candidates have tried to combat this change in voting by embracing new forms of media to get their manifestos and messages across. For instance, candidate Tom Upton filled his blog with videos keeping potential voters updated daily. The majority of candidates have posted videos on to the Student Union website in which they put forward their ideas.

The Waterfront met with a very exciteable Tom Upton. We could tell he'd had a few drinks, but his antics were endearing. He described himself as being "elated, horny, and well up for September."
