Charlotte Britton makes it back to welfare

Charlotte Britton has won her second term as the welfare officer of Swansea University students’ union.

Charlotte Britton has won her second term as the welfare officer of Swansea University students’ union.

She beat Ceejay John King with 1,523 votes compared to his 847 with 64% of the vote.

Miss Britton, 23, said: “I feel relieved, tired and happy about the result.

“I’ve had a chat with Ceejay, and he was great to campaign with because he’s been really friendly.”

Swansea University Intramural Football League paid tribute to former Hardly Athletic player Jack Wilcox with a minute’s silence before Sunday’s fixtures.

Swansea University Intramural Football League paid tribute to former Hardly Athletic player Jack Wilcox with a minute’s silence before Sunday’s fixtures.

Wilcox, who graduated from Swansea University last year, tragically passed away on the fifth of February after a motorcycle accident.

He was a regular fixture in the Hardly Athletic line-up between 2009 and 2011, and a familiar face in the Intramural Football League.

Former Welsh rugby sensation Shane Williams received an honorary MSc degree from Swansea University in recognition of his achievements and contribution to the region.

FORMER Welsh rugby sensation Shane Williams received an honorary MSc degree from Swansea University in recognition of his achievements and contribution to the region.

The award ceremony was conducted by university chancellor Rhodri Morgan at Brangwyn Hall last Thursday.

Williams was excited, yet humble in receiving this award.

“It means an awful lot to me,” said the Ospreys winger.

WALES’ rugby union assistant coach Rob Howley said his days at Swansea University helped shape him to be the man he is today.

WALES’ rugby union assistant coach Rob Howley said his days at Swansea University helped shape him to be the man he is today.

Howley, fresh back from Rugby World Cup duty in New Zealand, graduated in 1992 with a BSc in management science.

“University life gives you discipline,” he said.

“It is up to you whether you go to a lecture or not, structure is pretty important to you in life.”
