Attempted Kidnap in Centre

A nineteen year old girl walking home from a night out in Swansea forced to fight off an attempted kidnapper. The young woman was walking along St. Helen’s road in the early hours of Saturday morning the 16th of September, when a man tried to pull her into a car. The police are desperate to catch the man and have appealed for anyone with information to get in touch.

University Students have been warned to be on their guard after a night out, following the failed 4 a.m. attempted kidnapping.

The victim of the attack, who has not been named, described the car as being a Silver Vauxall Astra. She was asked by the driver to get into the car, but ignored him and kept on walking. The man stopped the car, got out, grabbed her wrist and tried to pull her into the vehicle. She managed to struggle free, running off before raising the alarm. The man is described as being dark-skinned, European in appearance and around the age of 30. He has a medium build and is five foot eight inches.

Simon Davies, Detective Inspector of Swansea CID, is keen for people to come forward and shed some light on the attempted kidnapping. He said that “We are treating it as an isolated incident, but we are keen to catch the man as soon as possible”. Emma Bartlett, Woman’s Officer with the Students’ Union, said that female students have been given advice about staying safe. ‘We provide personal attack alarms and tell them not to walk home alone’
