Board Free update

25th September 2006

Swansea University Alumnus Dave Cornthwaite has started his bid to set a new longboarding distance record. Having set off on 20 August, Dave's journey will see him travel 4,000 miles from one side of Australia to the other, beginning in Perth and finishing in Brisbane in the New Year.

Dave, who is a former editor of Waterfront, is hoping to raise money for charity. His chosen charities are Link Community Development, The Lowe Syndrome Trust and Sailability Australia. Cornthwaite plans to do much of his travelling in the morning saying that, "It will be far too hot during the day to do anything."

The 26 year old is well prepared for his antipodean adventure, he warmed up for the main event by skating the length of Britain. He is being supported by a back-up team made up of other Swansea University alumni.
