Front Radar: Syrus and Vernz
04th December 2006
Demo Reviews:
by Pete Hayman & Pete Golding
Syrus - 'Syrus'
Luring you in with an intense romp of seductive indie licks with the deftest of psychedelic twists, Syrus are simply a wealth of talent that swaggers about demanding attention from all. You can't ignore the entrancing pounding Gemini, whilst V will work you into a downright dirty frenzy. They're coming and you can't stop them!

Vernz - '2 Nines R Eighteen EP'
Catchy, mid-tempo opener, Taking It Back, is reminiscent of Paul Weller with crunchy guitars, and smooth Hammond. Make It Tonight is more of the same, although a cover of Tubeway Army's Are Friends Electric disappoints with over indulgent guitars. Slightly better, however, is a cover of Queen's Tie Your Mother Down. Hopefully, the Swansea-based quintet can build on this for their forthcoming LP
