Golf Buggy Stolen from Marquee

On sunday 1st october, the golf buggy used by the Sabbatical Officers for Student Union promotion during Freshers' Fayre, was stolen from the Marquee on Fulton House lawn between the hours of 11.30 p.m. and 12 p.m.

That night Sabbatical members received several reports that the buggy was being erratically driven around Bryn Road and Malvern Terrace. In order to locate the buggy, The Students' Union had been working with the Water Safety and Parks department from the Council. Students have come forward and information has been provided on the students who stole the buggy.

Owen Morgan, President of the Students' Union, said, "The Students' Union knows who these students are and where they live. It was extremely lucky that no one was hurt, and this incident goes to show how irresponsible and foolish students can be." The buggy was eventually found on Monday afternoon in an alleyway behind Malvern Terrace. The students had left beer cans everywhere and damage was done to Bryn Mill Park and the buggy. Stuart 'Chugga' Jones, Education officer, and Miles Goodman, Welfare Officer, had to push the buggy back to university to the amusement of many students queuing at the bus stop. Money that could have gone to Welfare and Societies will now have to go towards repairing the buggy.

The police were informed and would like to state that the students did commit a criminal offence, and that they are very lucky that the Students' Union are not pursuing the matter.

Owen Morgan was adamant that the golf buggy was a good idea, as he finished by stating that "after three years at university, I was not really sure what the Students' Union did, apart from the student bar. Hiring the golf buggy showed the Students' Union in a more appealing way."
