To Edinburgh and beyond!

Like stand up comedy? Especially when it's good? Well, appearing at our very own university is a top-quality stand-up show. Edinburgh and Beyond is a tour showcasing the very best of comedy from the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Coming to Swansea on the 24 October are four of the finest stand-up comedians at the fringe, all on one bill.

All were nominated for the prestigious Perrier or If.comeddie Award. The show stars Chris Addison, double Perrier Award nominee, and Russell Howard, If.comeddie Award nominee 2006 as well as Steve Hall, If.comeddie Award nominee 2006, and a finalist of BBC New Comedy Award and Daily Telegraph Open Mic Award.

Joining them is Marek Larwood, who is part of sketch trio We are Klang, nominated for the If.comeddie Award 2006 and the Best Sketch Act at the 2006 Chortle Awards.

Edinburgh and Beyond has been running since 2001 and has previously featured Simon Day from The Fast Show, Jenny Eclair (Perrier Award winner) and BAFTA Award winners Lee Mack and Karen Taylor.

The four man show due to land in Swansea previewed at the Edinburgh Festival on August 22 and was described by The Times as "a show worth catching if you haven't been able to get to Edinburgh this year".

You may have heard of the acts before, or at least of a project they've been involved in. Chris Addison is an established stand-up comedian and comedy writer and is regarded as one of the most versatile comics on the circuit with his pacy, energetic routines and faultless delivery. He has made a name for himself at The Edinburgh Festival with a slate of sold out solo shows and is a double Perrier nominated artist for his shows Atomicity in 2005 and Civilization in 2004. Chris has performed live and headlined at the most p r e s t i g i o u s comedy clubs including the Comedy Store, The Stand and the Buzz Club.

Steve Hall exploded onto the circuit with his trademark sharp, dry wit and expertly measured cynicism. A self-assured 'Catholic in a Jew's body', Steve works feverishly throughout the UK on the comedy circuit tackling the most contentious subjects with entertaining aplomb.

Steve has recently been commissioned by BBC Radio 1 to write and perform on their new late-night comedy show The Milk Run.

In 1999, Russell Howard reached the final of Channel 4's So You Think You're Funny competition (at the tender age of 19) and since his show at the Edinburgh Festival last year, he has headlined on The Comedy Network, written and performed on BBC Radio 1's The Milk Run and was voted second in Zoo Weekly's list of Britain's Funniest Comedians 2005. Russell's 2006 Edinburgh show, Wandering, was a sell out hit and he was nominated for an If.comeddie Award.

Marek Larwood is one of the most inventive and unique comics of the moment. His 'polyphonic' style, involving a huge range of sketch material and characters such as Max Phantasmo and The Man from Atlantis, makes for a wildly exciting and unhinged comedy experience brought to life by the energy and gusto of his delivery. Marek is also a regular writer and performer on BBC Radio 1's sketch show The Milk Run.

This show will be calling in at Swansea University for one night only, and promises to be an experience full of quality comedy. It'll be taking place in Dining Room B. The show starts at 8pm and entry is £6.
