BBC Television will be playing host to Swansea University students twice this year, as teams from the University compete in quiz shows 'Eggheads' and 'University Challenge'.

Swansea student Gary Almond and five housemates, under the name 'Team Sloth AFC', more accustomed to intra-mural football than to national television you might think, recently competed on the quiz show 'Eggheads', in which amateur quizzers take on quiz professionals for a big money prize.

"Unfortunately we had to sign a disclosure form preventing us from revealing whether we won or lost," revealed Gary. "But the episode should be aired in late May so you'll find out then."

Should they be accepted, filming for the first round will take place in June, with the final taking place in October. Students' Union treasurer Owen Morris has been behind the organising process and has high hopes for Swansea's representatives,

"If we get through the application process then there's no reason we can't progress through the rounds all the way to the final," he said. "That would be a massive achievement for the University."

The new series will begin airing late this year.
