DVD Review: Fight Club

The title of this film might lead you to assume it's just yet another boring action movie for blokes but don't let it, as you'd be missing out on one of the best movies of the last decade. Fight Club is essentially about the ipod generation who decide they're fed up with it, and choose to get in touch with their primal selves. How do they do this? They fight.

The criticisms and commentary on modern society can be appreciated by anyone. The cast is damn near perfect in this movie. The director (David Fincher, Se7en) does everything right as well. The gritty, grimy atmosphere is perfect for the tone of the movie, and just engrosses you further in this world of dank basements, broken noses and dried blood.

This movie is not only fantastically entertaining the first time through, but it stands up to multiple viewings. The two-disc special edition is a worthy addition to any serious DVD collection. It's nicely packaged and contains a whole host of extras, including commentaries from the three main stars (who prove to be just as witty and memorable as their characters) as well as the director. Simply put, this is a must-see for any student.
