Lots of people will think about what they want but do not actually do anything about it., Don't be one of them. Remember, you miss 100% of the shots you don't take!

Thinking about your career? Not sure which path to take? Come to Swansea University Careers Fair 2006, held in the Fulton House Dining rooms A,B and C from 10am to 3pm on 8 November, to find out details of graduate vacancies with leading employers.

Careers fairs are one of the best ways to find graduate appointments in your area of interest and meet potential employers face to face and market yourself to your chosen industry. Even if you haven't finished your course and are still in further study, careers fairs are still worthwhile as a source of information, contacts and interview experience.

This is an ideal time to explore different types of jobs, investigate what jobs would actually suit you and find out what it's really like to work at some of the country's top employers.

Some of the leading companies that will be available for you to talk to include: The Royal Mint, Institute of Legal Executives (ILEX), First Plus Financial Group, Air Products, Atkins Global, Corus Group, L'Oreal Manufacturing UK, Royal Navy, Total UK, EADS Defence & Security Systems Ltd and the Royal Air Force . These are just a few from a large list of organisations that will be present.

Many exhibitors employ graduates from any degree discipline, so try to visit all of the stands to make the most productive use of your time and gather in-depth information about your potential or current employer. Expanding your network by meeting job recruiters and even fellow graduates helps you build useful contacts for future reference, and may help you stand out from the other applicants.

There is also an occupational advice stand where you can speak to somebody from a specific profession about their work experiences, daily workloads and tap into their expertise.

A series of lunchtime workshops will be held to help you learn about successful job searching and marketing yourself to employers. A CV surgery will be held all day from 10am to 3pm.

You can also find out how to increase your worth within a specific field using further training, education, certification, or licensing.

Further information on the event can be obtained from the careers website or directly from the Careers Centre based in the entrance level of LIS - Open Monday to Friday, 9.00 am (10.00 am on Tuesdays) to 5.00 pm throughout the year; term-time and vacations.

Graduate careers fairs are an important resource for graduate appointments - even if you don't get a graduate placement as a direct result of the fair, you're still taking steps towards your chosen career and moving closer to recruitment in your perfect job. It's a real eye opener!
