Here again are your "news bites" from Issue 149 - news from around Swansea in small, easy to manage chunks. In this issue - Kylie gets married, and a Swansea student gets a traineeship.

BB Glyn for Nadolig

Blaenau Ffestiniog: Famous resident Glyn Wise, star of Big Brother 2006, will be appearing on a range of Welsh langugage Christmas cards. He is on two cards, including "Dwi'n breuddwydio am Nadolig Glyn," a pun on gwyn, Welsh for white, which translates as "I'm dreaming of a Glyn Christmas".

Connie solves Maria

Pembrokeshire: Connie Fisher, winner of the BBC show 'How do You Solve a Problem Like Maria?' is to make her debut on the West End stage in Andrew Lloyd Webber's production of the Sound of Music. The opening night charmed the critics, who had expressed doubt at the way she had been chosen for the role.

Graduate recieves traineeship

Morriston: A Swansea graduate has recieved funding from the British Heart Foundation to undertake a two year postgraduate traineeship at Morriston hospital in echocardigraphy. Bohdana Bahlay, 40, completed a four year Clinical Physiology degree in August of this year.

Domestic Violence

Campus: Women's Officer Emma Bartlett has organised a series of events to take place over the coming week to mark Domestic Violence Awareness Week. On Tuesday 21 November in DV8 there is a talk given by Jane Gueye, a member of the White Ribbon Group.

Then on Saturday 25 November there is a balloon release on Fulton House lawn, tickets are 50p and the winner can claim a £50 prize. This is followed by a White Ribbon Party in DV8 from 9.30p.m.

Kylie's Marriage

Campus: Finally congratulations to International Officer Kylie Bartelli who got married last week. Kylie tied the knot with her long term Russian boyfriend Dmitri Strockacockalypse before guests attended a reception at the Dragon Hotel where the Pink Stripes turned out to get the party going. We wish them every happiness.

Izzy Gets Fine

Swansea: Swansea City defender Izzy Iriekpen has been fined by the club after he was arrested last week. Police took the Nigerian into custody following an incident outside a nightclub on the Kingsway. Swansea manager Kenny Jackett said, "I'm disappointed that Izzy got himself in this situation and he will be fined by the club."

Sobers' Ball Sold

St Helens: One of the cricket balls that West Indian cricket legend Sir Gary Sobers hit for six sixes in an over at St Helen's, Swansea in 1968 has old at auction for £26,400.
