Swansea this Christmas

Fed up with the telly? Sick of all those Crimbo repeats of Only Fools and Horses? Well, don't despair, Swansea has a host of venues offering top quality live entertainment this Christmas. Fat Belly Productions stage their version of the Cinderella story The Ugly Sisters at Swansea Grand Theatre on 4th and 5th December. Describing their production as "revamped Christmas Carols, original choreography and fairy cakes to boot" this should be a ball of fun. Mark Thomas brings his biting satire and topical wit to the Grand on November 26th, and lovable Cockney 'Geezer' Joe Brown and daughter Sam bring authentic home grown Rock & Roll on the 27th.

Fans of TV soaps will be delighted to see Mark Little - formally Joe Mangle of Neighbours fame - appearing alongside Mike Doyle, Kevin Johns and Sinead Gregory in the Grand's Christmas pantomime Aladdin from 14th Dec - 14th Jan. Lovers of classic Hollywood musicals will be heading to Taliesin on 20th December for Oklahoma. Book your tickets for timeless tunes such as 'Oh What a Beautiful Mornin'' and 'People Will Say We're in Love', and feast your eyes on the exclusive Cinemascope version being screened.

Jazz fans can shake their thang to Descargo Cubana, who bring their Latin grooves to Swansea Jazzland in St James Crescent on Wednesday 13th December. This venue, along with Swansea Grand and Taliesin, offers generous student concessions.
