A Night of laughter....

23rd October 2006

The posters promised a cracking night of comedy genius and it didn't disappoint. Held in Fulton House Dining Room B, this monthly event was hosted by Russell Kane who gave us his comic thoughts to build us up to the other acts that were to amuse us that evening.

The energetic Vernon Kay lookalike was the perfect host to get the audience in the mood with his witty banter and funny antics. First up was Matt Price who nervously took to the stage with a pint in his hand. His anxiousness to please and entertain his audience was evident but he nevertheless had the crowd laughing in their seats.

His set included talk of his own sexual experiences gone wrong which had us cringing in our seats with embarrassment for him, he .

Student life was a big part of the set covering living away from home for the first time, drinking and sex, so the audience found themselves able to relate to many of Price's tales and anecdotes.

Finally was the headlining act of the night – Rhod Gilbert.

He had the audience participating in his act and humorously taking the mickey of some of them - some even willingly asked for it! This welsh comic proved to be everything that it was promised he would be.

His strong accent added to the humour of the evening, and he didn't mind ribbing himself either during an excellent performance. Having been billed as a "superb delight" and "a master of comic control", he certainly lived up to the expectations that the audience had of him.

All in all, this night was a roaring success with everyone having had what they had come for; a bloody good laugh!
