Swansea Student Excellence shines

Two prominent City of London financial institutions have bestowed an award onto two Swansea graduates.

Jonathan Latham, 23 and Qing Yun Ma, 35 have both received prizes of £250 from the sponsors of their courses.

Jonathan Latham won the IMC Investment Group Prize for being the best student on the Contemporary Financial Issues course - part of his MSc in Economics.

Qing Yun, from Hunan Province in China, has recently been appointed as representative of the Welsh Assembly in the British Consulate in Chongquin, China. She won her prize from the accountancy firm Grant Thornton, sponsors of the MSc course in Risk Management and Derivatives.

Professor Mike Adams - from the School of Business and Economics - describes corporate sponsorship of programmes as "external validation to our curriculum as well as giving an incentive to students."

Grant Thornton Accountants, part of the international Grant Thornton Group, is one of the largest independently owned accountancy and consultancy firms; specialising in bespoke operations.

IMC investment groups is the largest assessor of and certifier of entry level investment professionals in the UK.
