Increased Safety In Student Village

A student living in the student village has commented this week that safety in the village has improved since angry students spoke out to Waterfront before Easter.

The first year student said that, "the village does feel a lot safer since the article. Police patrol the village regularly, and at the time when the local school finishes. The police actively encourage the children to move on and not to hang around in the village?.

The student went on to say that she has not been aware of any trouble between students and the children from the local estate this semester, and that the level of crime appears to have dropped, as a direct result of more frequent police patrols.

Meanwhile, Ian MacPherson, Deputy Director of Facilities in the Estates department, has had a series of meetings with Olchfa school bosses. A new ban on pupils entering the village is set to be enforced from Monday.
