Sin City
Sin City becomes official Club NME
01st January 2007
Swansea's Sin City has recently been selected to have the title "Club NME", alongside only seven others in the UK and other venues in New York, Los Angeles and Dublin
Having the title shows active support from the popular music magazine NME to host their live music events and recognises Sin City as a live music venue as well as a promoter of new music.
Sin City is showing it deserves this by the quality of the upcoming artists soon to perform at the venue including Pigeon Detectives, Pendulum and We Are Scientists who will join the veneue's list of performers who the club has attracted, who in the past include Scouting For Girls and OPM.
Sin City opened in Swansea in December 2006 with 2 separate rooms to cater for various music tastes, and hosts the popular night Face Off The club is a joint venture between some of South Wales' finest promoters and Swansea University Students' Union aiming to bring for the first time the best in live music, touring DJs and club nights. Club NME's are often found in student towns, making Swansea and Sin City perfect for NME's core audience.
Manager of Sin City, Steve Lewis, commented that, "If you look back after the first year most, if not all, of the main indie bands will have passed through the club. We are very happy to get the award as our aim has always been to be at least on par with Cardiff".
Russell Wades, Ents Manager at Swansea University Students' Union, commented, "I am really pleased that our student nights are being recognised by one of the top music magazines in the country and am really excited about working together in the future to bring great bands to Swansea for the benefit of students and local people".
