5th International Student Awards

17th January 2007

The fifth International Student Awards are offering the chance for one international student to win a major award and £2,000 prize money.

The competition recognises international students who are truly embracing their experiences in the UK, taking on challenges that enhance their lives and add value to their education. To enter, candidates must write 'a letter to home' detailing how their experiences have changed their outlook or the way they live their lives.

The British Council is the UK's international organisation for educational opportunities and the award scheme is now in its fifth year, and uniquely does not focus directly upon academic achievement, but the way in which international students embrace their time in the UK.

There are 36 prizes on offer to international students studying at universities across the country. Twelve regional finalists will be invited to a two day event in London in April, with the overall winner taking home the award and £2,000. The other 11 will each win £1,000 and a commemorative award.

Students who wish to enter should visit www.educationuk.org/shine, and complete the web based entry form. The letter should be written as if it were to be sent to a family member or former teacher. Entries must be in by February 7.
