Exam Period

With the exam period now upon us the last thing that any student wants is to put themselves in a situation where their hard work is compromised by breaking exam rules. The Academic Registry wants students to be aware of the following exam regulations:

1. It is your responsibility to make your School/Department aware as soon as possible of any extenuating circumstances which could have an affect on your performance during these January examinations or the May/June examinations. Academic appeals based on extenuating circumstances which could have been brought to the attention of your School/Department prior to the meeting of the examining boards in June will NOT be considered.
2. If you are caught engaging in unfair practice during the examinations, the likely penalty will be to cancel the marks for ALL modules taken this semester. In addition, you will be required to suspend studies. Examples of unfair practice include use of notes in exams, conversing with fellow students and plagiarism. Further information will be available in your departmental handbook.
3. Be aware that mobile telephones are NOT permitted in examination venues. If you are found to be in possession of a mobile phone, you will be prevented from continuing the examination in question and required to leave the venue immediately, and the examination paper will not be marked. You will not be readmitted for the examination in question and the incident will be reported to the Superintendent of Assessment.
