Swansea DVLA Letter Bomb

A female worker at the DVLA in Swansea has been injured by a letter bomb that exploded in the building's post room.

The incident occurred just before half past nine and is the fourth incident of its kind in the last five days.

The injured woman is being treated at Morriston Hospital who have released a statement saying, "She is undergoing treatment at the present time and has been assessed by a consultant. Her condition is stable."

A cordon has been placed around the scene and access roads leading to the premises have been closed. At this point there has been no evacuation of the DVLA building and the surrounding area.

The attack has come on the back of two similar attacks earlier this week. Both against motoring related companies.

On Tuesday a package exploded at the offices of Speed Check Services in Surrey. The company provide digital speed cameras to the police.

That followed an attack on the central London offices of Capita who are responsible for running London's congestion charge system.

The Home Secretary John Reid has described the attacks as "worrying," but has also urged the public and media to allow the police to carry out their investigations without undue speculation.
