The Departed Two...and Three?

Empire is currently running an exclusive of an interview with Mark Wahlberg where he goes into depth about the plans for the follow-ups (read that 'ups' plural) to the hugely successful Irish-mob flick 'The Departed'.

Having mentioned that a second was on the cards already, Wahlberg has discussed the potential for bringing much of the killed cast from the original back to walk amongst the living in order to film a prequel.

All this is subjective to Monahan and Scorsese agreeing on a script that suits but talk has already begun flying around about Scorsese's long-time golden boy Robert De Niro popping up as a corrupt senator but this is all hearsay at the moment; strictly omerta capiche?
