International Fiesta

The fifth International Fiesta was held on Thursday 1 February in DV8 at 8 pm.

Organised by International Officer Kylie Bartelli, the International Fiesta is a party for international students at the university. Numerous events are organised throughout the year in DV8 for Swansea University's thriving international student community, in order to aid their integration into British university life. The university's international community is large and varied, with students coming from across the globe, and the International Officer works hard to ensure that they integrate successfully by organising these Fiestas at regular intervals throughout the year.

The International Fiesta drew approximately 200 students and was a big success.

Kylie Bartelli commented that: "the events are always a good night out. They include mass orders of pizza afterwards and a pleasant change of atmosphere. The events are important for international students as they aid in the integration with the local student community, as well as strengthening international relationships."

The fifth International Fiesta of the year featured strong international themes, including large amounts of pizza, sangria, and clips of mafia films on T.V screens and foreign cocktails alongside non-alcoholic drinks to ensure a fun night out for all. The predominant nationalities at last week's event were thought to be French and Spanish, but British students were welcome to display their hospitality, and the variety of nationalities present was varied; from Saudi Arabians to Americans. This aided Swansea's reputation as an excellent experience for foreign students.

The International Student officer organises a variety of events throughout the year, including the upcoming trip to Cadbury World and the Bullring shopping centre and the recent trip to Amsterdam.
