SWITCHFOOT

Although support act Superhero did a good job of warming the crowd up, Switchfoot were what everyone was waiting for, and they were welcomed on stage with deafening cheers.

There was a sense of occasion surrounding the gig, and particular highlights included frontman Jon Foreman composing a song mid-set containing the ingenious lines "sometimes you get hungry so you eat, when you eat sometimes you belch."

With Foreman climbing into the crowd numerous times, and allowing a fan to play guitar on Oh! Gravity, it was a brilliant experience, and one which won't be topped for some time.

Supporting The Bees at Sin City, the crowd instantly warmed to the soulful sound of Liverpudlian singer-songwriter, Candie Payne. With influences such as Billie Holiday and Nina Simone, Payne has developed a beautiful, sultry vocal style that couldn't fail to capture your heart, and importantly, your attention.

Showcasing her forthcoming album, I Wish I Could Have Loved You More, out at the end of March, Payne convinced many in attendance of her evident talent and dreamy sound. The Bees themselves are delighted to have her in support, and if the music gods have their heads screwed on, British music lovers may just have a new female singing superstar.
