Xtreme to broadcast online

Xtreme Radio, Swansea University's student radio station, had a double celebration this week with the announcement that the station is now broadcasting online through mp3 and the news that the Swansea vs Cardiff Mens Rugby Varsity match will be live on Xtreme Radio on 25 April.

You might be asking yourself what does broadcasting in mp3 mean? Well essentially this means that you can now enjoy Xtreme via software everyone has and uses such as Windows Media Player or iTunes with great quality sound.

The team at the station are very excited by the news. The committee of Xtreme told us that this is as significant a step for the station as last year's link up with BBC, adding that the station realised that before some listeners had difficulties when listening over the internet, but this development will make listening online much easier and simpler, just follow the links on the Xtreme website (www.xtremeradio.org) it's now as simple as one click! As well as the online service, the radio station is still available around Swansea through 1431am. This news comes after the start of a listen again feature which can be found on the Xtreme website, which provides many of the stations more specialist music shows available to listen to when you want, very useful if you missed the original broadcast!

With the station now more widely available to listeners, it will be easier for you all to listen to Xtreme's coverage of this year's Varsity match live from Cardiff Arms Park which takes place on Wednesday 25 April. In a link up with Cardiff University's radio station 'Xpress', you'll be able to hear full commentary of the match live as it happens. If last year's coverage is anything to go by, expect to hear some lively banter between the Xtreme Sport team and their Cardiff counterparts!

There will be plenty of build up to the match on Xtreme's sports show, 'The Dugout' which airs every Saturday afternoon from 2pm and also features the lastest news, interviews and live updates our reporters from the Liberty Stadium covering Swansea City and the Ospreys as they pus for honours, as well as covering Swansea RFC and Dunvant RFC.
