News in brief from Swansea and the surrounding areas. In this issue: Sky Sports is back in JCs, the Waterfront gives you the chance to snap up a 2 for 1 voucher for Becoming Jane and a Swansea teenager is found dead at his home.

JC's Sky Sports back on screen

All campus sports' fans will be pleased to hear that JC's is now able to show Sky broadcasts following recent problems with their Sky Digibox and projector screen.

This means that all remaining Champions League games will be shown live as well as the Cricket World Cup which starts on March 13.

Becoming Jane voucher offer

To celebrate the release of Becoming Jane, the Waterfront are offering you the chance to snap up a 2 for 1 voucher to see the film at the Odeon Cinema in Swansea.

Becoming Jane follows the life of a young Jane Austen and features stars such as Anne Hathaway and James McAvoy. All you have to do is collect your voucher from the Sabbs, JCs or the Media Centre (Level 3, Union House) from 9 March and present it, with your student card at Odeon Swansea between 12 March and 12 April 2007.

Becoming Jane is released nationwide on 9 March 2007.

Smoking ban for Swansea hospitals

A survey has shown that over half of Swansea hospital patients want a 100% smoking ban on hospital grounds. Over 1000 participants responded to the poll resulting in a 51% of people wanting a blanket ban on smoking on hospital grounds. Pat Dwan, Unison health spokesman for Swansea, said the union was in favour of the new legislation.

Pop star visits sick youngster

Swansea resident, Bethany Evans, seven, is currently recuperating at Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital in London after a major bladder operation. Evans father wrote to Girls Aloud singer, Nicola Richards, expecting just a letter back to help raise his ill daughter's spirits, but instead she came to visit his daughter in hospital. Mr Evans said, "She was so nice and stayed with Bethany to play for an hour."

Swansea teenager found dead at his home

Luke Davies was discovered dead in his home in Swansea. The 19-year-old was a former student of Penyrheol Comprehensive School and his death is not being treated as suspicious. Davies former teacher, Margaret Jones who taught him at Gorseinon College said, " Luke was a very good student and a very nice person who got on well with everybody. We are greatly saddened by the news of his death."
