Union stalwart Ele Hick leaving

12th March 2007

Ele Hick is to step down for the position of the Swansea disabilities officer after two years.

Ele came to Swansea six years ago to read Spanish and then went on to do a Masters in Translation. Ele has held many positions within the University including the NUS Welsh students officer and the lesbian, gay and bisexual officer. At the end of the Easter term Ele will be leaving to work with Stonewall Cymru, an organisation which aims to achieve legal equality and social justice for lesbian, gay and bisexual people in Wales.

Ele said, 'It has been an honour to work with some brilliant people and I wish them all the best in the future.' She will be missed by many at the University including Shona Vrac-Lee, the Union Administrator, who said 'I have known Ele for a number of years through her work on the Students' Union Executive Committee, and the Union in general. Ele is always thorough and professional in everything she undertakes, and has dedicated so much of her time to the Union, and its various committees, for which we are grateful. It has been my pleasure to know, and work with her, and I wish her every success for the future.'
