2007 Omnibus Survey launched

The Students' Union has launched the 2007 omnibus survey. The Omnibus Survey, which began on the 19 April, is undertaken by the students' union to ensure impartiality and is designed to highlight any problems that students are experiencing.

In the first week, the 2007 Omnibus Survey had had over 500 responses.

John Follett, Research and Development Officer for the Students' Union, stated that, "it is very important that students fill out this questionnaire. The Omnibus Survey is taken alongside the National Student Survey and they are the two main weapons that the Students' Union has that can influence University policies."

In the past, the Omnibus Survey has been useful as the University has listened to the views of students. This is because it is professionally undertaken and it also has over 1,000 responses every year. One success of the

Omnibus Survey is that it helped to resurrect the Course Representatives' Assembly. The information gathered from the survey was used in committees with the University, (Student Affairs and Teaching Committee), to make the University more aware and to react to the importance of the Course Representative's Assembly being in place.

"The Course Representatives' Assembly is another source of information for the University from the students. As the University are able to receive real time feedback, rather than waiting for the results of the survey."

"The surveys have made a difference on the policies and procedures that the University undertakes. Although this may not be transparent at first, behind the scenes it has had a great influence," stated Follett.
