08th May 2007

The polls for the student executive elections are to be opened in the front of Fulton House on the 15 May 2007. Twenty one different posts are available and will cover many different areas of student life, including education, democracy, liberation and diversity. Among the positions available are: Library representative, Societies representative, Mature Students representative and Welsh affairs officer.

Any student interested in applying for Exec positions should contact Shona Vrac- Lee on the second floor of Union house in order to pick up a remit form.

Successfully elected executives will become part of the SUSU Executive committee which is responsible for debating and deciding all matters of the Students' Union policies. The SUSU Executive Committee is also responsible for the campaigns as directed by the SGM (Student General Meeting) and sitting on other committees that make decisions on matters like the summer ball. It also provides a recognised means of communication to and from student members of the Union and the University.

Owen Morgan, Students' Union President said, "Students should definitely get involved in the Executive Elections. It's a good laugh, you get a free T-shirt and it looks good on your C.V. My years experience has given me some good ideas to put in place next year for the exec and I really want make some chnages and pimp it up!"

More information is available on the internet at www.swansea-union.co.uk, or from the Students' Union.
