Swansea hit Cardiff for six

Swansea came into the game at the sports centre as underdogs against the league leaders and rivals Cardiff. Swansea started the match at the wrong end of the league and needed a big win to boost their chances of staying up and they got that win emphatically.

It could not have started better for the home team as they took their early chances well rushing into a 2-nil lead in the first Ten minutes and putting the game beyond Cardiff by half time. A first half hat-trick by Jake Herman gave Swansea their best start of the season. Swansea took the game to Cardiff early and did not let the league leaders settle. There was a marked difference in the speed of the attacks with Swansea looking to take the ball quickly to Cardiff's defence with right winger James Begg playing well getting past the Cardiff defence numerous times.

Swansea were happy to defend their lead in the second half with Cardiff not really attacking with any conviction although forcing Swansea goalie Richard Smith into some sharp saves to keep the away team at bay.

The home team looked in better shape in the set plays with short corners giving two Swansea goals whilst Cardiff squandered theirs with no organisation or control.

Swansea scored two more second half goals after Cardiff had pulled one back with a penalty but the league looked like it should be reversed as the 1sts got a much needed win to finish the game third from bottom and a little bit closer to league safety eventually running out 6-2 winners.
