Clubber dies

12th March 2007

The Student Union has extended its sincere condolences to friends and family of James Richard Ley, who collapsed in the night club Sin City and later died in hospital.

The incident happened in the early morning of Sunday 25 February, Ley, 26, who was not a member of the student body, was at a "hard dance night" called Breathe when he collapsed.

Mr Ley was taken by ambulance to Morriston Hospital but staff were unable to save him. The Sandfields resident had spent the afternoon watching the day's Six Nations rugby with friends.

Police are investigating the young man's death. Chief Inspector Paul McCarthy said "Because of his age, it is being treated as a sudden and unexplained death and that is why we are investigating the situation."

The Students Union said, "We understand that the police are satisfied with the procedure of Sin City in dealing with this incident.

"The Students Union expresses its condolences to the family and friends of this man at this tragic time."
