Oceana comes to Swansea

Time And Envy closed its doors on Wednesday 10 October, after entertaining students for over 17 years.

Wednesday 10 October was Time's last student night with a 'Casino Royale' theme, before work begins on turning it into an Oceana nightclub, which is due to open in the New Year.

Students' Union Ents Manager, Russell Wade has been involved in the Time and Envy student nights for the past seven years and he said that, "Our relationship with Time has been brilliant as we have brought together the biggest body of students with the largest club in Swansea. This is a new and exciting time over the next few months as we look forward to the opening of super club Oceana".

Stars such as Girls Aloud, Lemar, Coolio, East 17, Vengaboys, and more recently Amerie have all performed in Time and Envy to sell out audiences.

Current club manager Steve Saunders commented that, "This last year has been fantastic, we have put on some of the biggest nights in my career and played host to world famous artists. I am so excited about Oceana. Swansea has been screaming out for a venue of this calibre - six style bars, two uniquely themed nightclubs and a restaurant, all under one roof."

While the club is being renovated, the student nights previously held in Time And Envy will take place in Jumpin Jaks, hosted by DJ D Tone, where students can enjoy the best in commercial dance, drum n bass, chart and student party anthems, previously played in Time and Sin City will play the popular metal, indie, R&B and hip-hop music from Envy and Face Off.

Whilst Detention is spread across two venues until the opening of Oceana next year, one fee will allow access to both clubs. Students will be given a wrist band and will be able to walk freely between both venues all night. Entry is £3 with an NUS card, £4 without and the event takes place every week from 10pm until 3am.
