Whats On: Dylan Thomas Centre

The Dylan Thomas Centre (DTC) in Swansea Marina continues to provide an eclectic range of entertainment with the return of last years hugely popular Latin-American Arts festival in February. The Festival runs from Friday 23 - Sunday 25 February and promises 'A feast of films, music, arts & crafts, dance, food and poetry', from the American sub-continent.

The DTC is also staging a series of music/spoken word performances around Dylan Thomas' home in Laugharne. 'The Dylan Thomas Boathouse Event' will feature musicians Bert Jansch, the legendary Patti Smith, and poet and journalist Niall Griffiths. Swansea Jazzland in St James Crescent has a great line-up of master musicians booked to entertain its regular Wednesday night jazz clubbers. Barcelona's celebrated 'Minimum Trio' play the club on 31 January, and the hugely talented Martin Speake and his Quartet will be packing them in on 7 March. Fans of Massive Attack and Gary Moore will be interested to see two exmembers of those bands in the line up of jazz groovers 'Protect the Beat', and veteran guitar funkmeister Jim Mullen brings his organ trio featuring Stan Sultzman on sax to Jazzland on 18 April. Classical music lovers should not miss 'The London Concertante' an evening of chamber music featuring works by Arensky, Brahms and Mozart in the magnificent surroundings of the Brangwyn Hall.
