Make Another World - Idlewild
This confident sixth album from Idlewild is a perfectly executed infusion of The Strokes guitars with folk vibes that make you happy you're not emo, and that you have taste.
The album encapsulates the turning points in life, offering advice from a position of experience. An awesomely punchy collection of well-paced and beautifully captured moments.

Ten New Messages - The Rakes
In a post-Arctic Monkeys climate where the provincial outposts of Britain have claimed the attention of music-lovers, London raises the stakes yet again with The Rakes following-up to 2005's debut outing Capture/Release.
Staying with angular post-punk approaches, Ten New Messages smacks of a twenty-something who gets pissed the night before a crucial job interview and still walks away with the job.

We Are Pilots - Shiny Toy Guns
This American four-piece finally get around to releasing their anticipated debut album. Beginning with the monotonous You Are the One, Shiny Toy Guns move on to better tracks such as Le Disko and title track We Are Pilots. The unusual combination of one female and one male vocalist results in something different and likeable, but unfortunately the album isn't different enough to stand out from the crowd.
