Saturday Superhouse - Biffy Clyro

The second single to be released from forthcoming fourth album Puzzle, Biffy encapsulate the hugely distinctive sound that only they seem to be capable of.

Simon Neil's inimitable voice gives this song a supremely individual tone, combined with intricate guitar riffs allowing the melody to become eerily haunting. It is yet another top quality song which can only aid Biffy's inevitable journey to superstardom.

Walk This Way - Girls Aloud & Sugababes

The official guide to follow when making a charity record: one, get the two biggest girl groups in Britain to collaborate; two, get them to murder a classic song.

Walk This Way has been upheld as the classic rock/rap crossover track but it has been defaced by two great pop bands. Steve Tyler recently said that it is important to remember this is a charity song. I am Mr Tyler, and so I'm giving it one star instead of none.

Our Velocity - Maximo Park

What strikes you when listening to this is that the synths are placed confidently in the foreground. Maximo are doing what they do best with this single with a catchy harmony. But despite the charm, there is little evidence of the quintet evolving the sound of their 2005 debut.

By no means a disappointment but with a new album due in April, there may not be quite enough here to satisfy those fans who may be less dedicated.
