A secondyear History student is attempting to raise £2,500 for the Help for Heroes Charity.
In September 2011, Chanai Operanta will trek The Great Wall of China to raise much needed money for members of the armed forces who have been wounded serving their country.
The distance of 64 kilometres will span over 7 days and Chanai has told The Waterfront it will be the toughest physical challenge she has ever faced.
Chanai will be holding a colossal charity bake sale and grand raffle in Fulton House on Tuesday 22nd February, to help raise funds for our wounded soldiers.
The vast number of prizes include a complimentary Sunday lunch for 4 people in an award winning 5-star hotel, St David’s Hotel & Spa worth £140, a £45 voucher to spend at Chiquito and a £30 voucher for Topshop.
When asked why Chanai has invested so much time and effort into the Help for Heroes cause, she replied, “Help for Heroes is a charity that lies close to my heart. As the daughter of a military veteran who actively served in various conflicts, I know how important it is for soldiers on active duty to know that they are supported at home. As a nation we seldom thank them enough for the sacrifices they make.”
Chanai has raised £2000 so far and would be very thankful to anyone who comes along to the bake sale to show their support. Raffle tickets are £1.50 and the winners will be announced at 4.30pm.
