ELECTIONS THIS year at Swansea University have seen a new form of voting come into place.

Candidates have tried to combat this change in voting by embracing new forms of media to get their manifestos and messages across.

Candidates have tried to combat this change in voting by embracing new forms of media to get their manifestos and messages across. For instance, candidate Tom Upton filled his blog with videos keeping potential voters updated daily. The majority of candidates have posted videos on to the Student Union website in which they put forward their ideas.

BOTH the men’s and women’s hockey teams are looking forward to Varsity 2011 after contrasting with the results of this time last year.

BOTH the men’s and women’s hockey teams are looking forward to Varsity 2011 after contrasting with the results of this time last year.

At the same event last year, the men were narrowly beaten 3-2 by Cardiff, whereas the women triumphed 1-0 against their counterparts from down the M4.

IT WAS in 2004 that Chelsea manager and self-proclaimed ‘Special one’, Jose Mourinho, appointed Brendan Rodgers as youth team coach for the West London side. Fast forward six years and the Northern Irishman is now in charge of Swansea City brandishing his own brand of attractive football that has resulted in much praise, most notably from Cardiff City’s Seyi Olofinjana, dubbing the Swans ‘the Chelsea of the Championship’.

For the first time in the history of Intramural football at Swansea and Cardiff, an Intramural match has been announced between the two Universities to coincide with all the other Varsity matches occurring on Wednesday the 30th of March.  The match was announced during the exam period and every Intramural player will be hoping to put in some impressive performances over the coming in weeks to cement a place in the squad of 18.

Woody’s Bar is looking to accommodate the influx of 109 American students who moved into the Village this year designing events that will specifically interest them. Boston Beer Pong gets its name from the Boston Tea Party, although Manager Daz Thomas assured it has nothing to do with dressing up as Native Americans and dumping overtaxed beer into the sea.

The annual showpiece event between the two universities is due to take place on Wednesday, March 30 and it is in danger of losing one of its fixtures if an agreement cannot be reached.
