The athletics union have launched a brand new website for the new academic year. www.suau.co.uk is now up and running and available to help you keep up to date with the latest AU news and events, and is full of competitions and games to keep you amused between lectures. This week you can win 10 tickets for the first AU Sportsnight this Wednesday in Play on Wind Street. All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning is to follow the links on the site and answer the simple Sportsnight related question.

The website provides instant access to all of the fixtures, results and contact details for all the different AU clubs, as well as pictures of different teams and some of last years events including the AU Ball. There also regular polls on the site to find out AU member's views on a manner of subjects from the use of the National Swimming Pool at Sketty to the best sporting commentator of all time, and the results are there to be seen as well, so check it out! This week is also the first week of fixtures for University sports teams. The opening home fixtures are the Rugby 1st XV who face Brunel University at Sketty Lane, and the 3rd XV are playing UWIC at Fairwood. These are obviously big games for both teams as they will have new faces trying to assert themselves and these are the opening fixtures in the British University Sports Association (BUSA) Leagues in which both sides will be wanting to build confidence for the rest of the season.

Other sports start next week with football, rugby league, rugby union, men's and women's hockey and netball all playing at home, either at Sketty Lane or Fairwood, if you are not involved try and get along to support your university teams, they will definitely appreciate it. In other AU news, there is to be an additional sign up session for those people who did not join the AU at Fresher's Fair, but still want to. It will be held on Thursday 12 October, in the old Kopy Shop on the ground floor of Fulton House. Remember to bring your passport photos and sign on fee to make you sure you sign up, you can still sign up after this in the AU Office on the second floor of Fulton House behind the Level 2 Shop.
