XTREME RADIO aired nationally last weekend in a two hour show broadcasting the most played tracks of the station from 2010.
The student station participated in a weekly national slot in which University stations all over the UK broadcast the show, meaning that thousands of students tuned in to Xtreme Radio’s show at 3-5 on Sunday, February 13th.
The show, which broadcasts a rundown of the 20 most played track on the station, airs just before the weekly UK chart hit countdown.
Xtreme’s spotlight occurred as a result of their success in being nominated for the Student Radio Awards which will take place in October. Until then, various Universities from the UK will broadcast a two-hour show which will be aired by all participating Universities.
All shows competing for recognition at the SRA award ceremony will cut the ‘best bits’ of their show to three minutes in order for a winner to be determined by the judges.
The show was hosted by station manager Tom Upton, co-hosts Dave Casey and Ed Powell while Toby Hughes worked as producer for the show.
Casey told The Waterfront “the show was brilliant to host and once we’d settled in to it, it went off without a hitch and Xtreme Radio definitely made a good National impression.
“Xtreme is a brilliant voice for all students and a place to listen to the best music that is brought to you by students, presented to you by students and run by students.
“All we need is people to keep coming forward to be involved in the station and keep producing a production line of talent!”
