It's been a busy few weeks here at the Waterfront Online. James and I have been working throughout the Christmas holidays and exam period to prepare a major update to the site, bringing with it a whole host of improvements and new features as well as the usual great content from the Waterfront and Front teams.

If you read our first entry back in September, you might remember that we wanted to make the website as interactive and easy to use as possible. One of our highest priorities was to ensure the visitors to the website – you – could interact with the content available. Today, we are pleased to be able to bring you the first step towards this goal – blog comments. A new "comments" button should now be visible at the bottom of every blog post. Clicking on this link will allow you to see any comments posted and allow you to contribute to discussions on a whole range of topics covered by our many blogs.

Other updates put in place this weekend include the ability to see a list of articles from each issue of the Waterfront – just click on the issues link on the website homepage. Author feeds now include any blog entries they have made. Some of the graphics used throughout the website have also changed to improve its appearance, and many other smaller changes have been made to make the site easier to use.

In addition to all of these changes, we have now added lots more blogs from the Waterfront and Front teams such as "Flog the dead donkey" from our Motoring Editor Graham, and "Never Mind the Bloggers" from our Music Editor Pete Hayman. The Waterfront's resident agony uncle - Dear Jamie - has also been given a nice, shiny new column in the blogs section. Go take a look at our full list of blogs.

Finally, we have also added over 70 articles to the website this weekend containing all the latest news, sport, music, film, lifestyle and culture.
